The tragic death of a Kolkata doctor prompts Twinkle Khanna to share important safety tips for women

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India]August 15 (ANI): Bollywood actress Twinkle Khanna took to Instagram to express her outrage and disappointment over the recent rape and murder of a young doctor-in-training in Kolkata. She shared a note with the Indian flag in the background and wrote about the harsh reality of women's safety in India.

In the note, Twinkle expressed her concern about having to teach her daughter the same safety precautions she learned as a child, including never going to public places like parks, schools or beaches alone; avoiding going out alone with men, even if they are relatives or friends; and being cautious at all times of the day, especially at night.

Previously, Preity Zinta had also expressed her outrage over the shocking incident in a statement.

Kareena Kapoor and Alia Bhatt also condemned the brutal rape and murder of the aspiring doctor in Calcutta.

The doctor-in-training was found dead in the seminar room of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata on August 9. The family claims that the victim was raped and murdered.

In a strong show of support, doctors across the country continue to protest the murder and alleged sexual assault of a doctor in training and demand justice for the victim.

The protests took place in the cities of Kolkata, Guwahati, Hyderabad and Mumbai on Wednesday. The protesters carried placards reading “Justice must prevail”, “No duty without security” and “Justice delayed is justice denied.” (ANI)
