Mia Bailey appears in court for the second time in the double murder trial

Mia Bailey returned to Washington County court on Thursday for a roll call hearing to review the current status of the trial with the prosecution and defense.

She is accused of shooting her mother and father in their Washington City home. Police said she also shot her brother and sister-in-law, both of whom were unharmed.

Bailey entered the courtroom wearing an orange jumpsuit and matching orange Crocs, with her hands and ankles shackled.

She was accompanied by her court-appointed attorney, Ryan Stout.

Stout asked the judge to give him more time on the case.

“I've obviously received a lot of evidence from the county and I'm still working through it,” Stout said. “We're a long way from a preliminary hearing.”

Judge Keith Barnes of the Fifth Circuit scheduled the next hearing for November 14.

The hearing on Thursday lasted less than five minutes.

Bailey sat quietly throughout most of the hearing, only briefly consulting with her attorney toward the end.

MORE about MIA BAILEY:

The courtroom was almost empty. There were only a handful of reporters in the audience area. Neither relatives nor other spectators attended the hearing.

At one point, Bailey appeared to scan the crowd before being led out of the courtroom.

Bailey will return to Purgatory Correctional Facility, where she will be held without bail.
