Overton Hewlett is accused of shooting into occupied homes

MADISON CO., Alabama (WAFF) – The Madison County Sheriff's Office has arrested a man accused of shooting into homes Wednesday night.

Officers responded to reports of shots fired at an occupied residence on Foxford Lane at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

According to authorities, an investigation found that two different homes were damaged in the shooting.

The detectives went to these areas and conducted their investigations.

During surveillance of an apartment complex on Sparkman Drive, the suspect, 29-year-old Overton Hewlett, was arrested.

Hewlett was arrested and charged with two counts of shooting at an occupied residence.

He is currently being held in the Madison County Jail.

Officials say the investigation is ongoing and it is expected that further charges will be filed.
