Suspect arrested in connection with tragic death of actor Matthew Perry – Sigorta Haber

Authorities arrest suspect in connection with investigation into Matthew Perry's death

Perry, widely known for his iconic role as Chandler Bing from the popular sitcom Friends, was found dead in a hot tub at his Los Angeles home in October of last year. The Los Angeles County Medical Examiner's Office concluded in a December autopsy report that Perry succumbed to the acute effects of ketamine.

Ketamine, a powerful anesthetic with psychedelic properties, is increasingly used to treat mental health issues such as depression and anxiety. However, it is also commonly abused for recreational purposes. Los Angeles police, in conjunction with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, have been working hard to identify the source of the ketamine in Perry's system and determine whether it was obtained legally.

A spokesperson for the United States Postal Inspection Service confirmed its involvement in the investigation, pointing out the complexity and seriousness of the case. The autopsy report also mentioned that Perry had received ketamine infusion therapy. However, it was determined that the ketamine present in his body did not come from his last therapy session, which took place approximately ten days before his death. The report highlighted that the ketamine levels in Perry's blood were comparable to those found during general anesthesia.

Matthew Perry spoke openly about his struggle with drug and alcohol addiction, which he described openly in his memoirs. The coroner also stated that other factors contributed to his death, including drowning, coronary heart disease and buprenorphine – a drug used to treat pain and addiction.

More information about the roles of others in this ongoing case is expected to be announced at a press conference Thursday morning in Los Angeles.
