Johnny Wactor: 4 people arrested for murder of former “General Hospital” actor, LAPD says

CNN

Four men have been arrested in connection with the fatal shooting of former “General Hospital” actor Johnny Wactor during an alleged catalytic converter theft in May, Los Angeles police announced Thursday.

Homicide detectives executed search warrants at several locations across the city on Thursday, seizing evidence and making arrests, the LAPD said in an updated press release.

Three men, all 18, were charged with suspicion of murder, while the fourth, a 22-year-old man, was charged with suspicion of aiding and abetting, the LAPD said.

No further details about the investigation were released.

CNN is trying to find out if the men have legal representation.

As CNN previously reported, police released grainy images of three people wearing hoodies earlier this month, as well as images of a black four-door Infiniti Q50 sedan with a tan interior that authorities said was stolen.

Police said at the time that the man believed to have fired the gun had a tattoo above his left eye and right cheek, but did not provide further details Thursday about who they believed the shooter was.

During a press conference earlier this week in Los Angeles, Wactor's mother, Scarlett Wactor, said grief was her “constant companion.”

She said she couldn't wish her son a nice 38th birthday on August 31, ask him how his day was or if he was coming home for Christmas.

“This is a great birthday present,” Scarlett Wactor told CNN on Thursday about the arrests and her son's upcoming birthday. “I hope he's smiling from above.”

She said it was a “huge relief” and a “huge victory” to hear about the arrests.

“It's a very good feeling and I'm cautiously optimistic that we can make them disappear for a very long time,” she said.

In a statement about the arrests on Thursday, LA Mayor Karen Bass called for “full accountability” in the case.

“I want to thank the LAPD for their partnership and hard work on this case and for their continued efforts to keep the residents of Los Angeles safe and bring justice to victims of violence,” the mayor said. “Now we must ensure that those responsible for this brazen and heinous act are held fully accountable.”
