Patriots can't get rid of injury problems in preseason game against Eagles

Injuries across the league dominated NFL news this past week, with several players leaving the practice field or preseason games with serious injuries. One of the most notable was rookie quarterback JJ McCarthy, who the Patriots were previously interested in before settling on Drake Maye.

Fortunately, the Patriots have been largely injury-free this offseason, but that changed in the team's preseason game against the Eagles on Thursday night.

Unfortunately, wide receiver JaQuae Jackson suffered a non-contact knee/leg injury in the fourth quarter and was eventually taken to the locker room for further evaluation.

He was almost immediately ruled out for the rest of the game, which usually indicates how serious the injury appears to be.

It's always heartbreaking when a player gets injured at any point in the season, but especially when the player has had an outstanding training camp and preseason in which he hoped to be convincing enough to make the 2024 roster.

That was the path Jackson was on before this game, but due to his apparently serious injury (the details of which we will only learn in the next few days), it is safe to assume his season is over before it even began.

Hopefully, when the preseason comes to a close next week with the Patriots visiting the Commanders, there won't be any more injuries, especially on offense. While injuries are obviously not always good, New England's offense is already questionable and losing more potential weapons would be devastating on many levels.

As more details on Jackson's status become available, this article will be updated accordingly.
