Mahindra has finally launched the Thar Roxx in India at an introductory price of Rs 15.20 lakh (on-road price, Mumbai). The automaker has only announced the prices for the RWD petrol and diesel variants. The new SUV comes loaded with numerous features that offer a distinctive driving experience. Explanation of the Mahindra Thar Roxx variants

The new Mahindra Thar Roxx has the same engine specifications as the Mahindra Scorpio N. It is powered by a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine, while both engines are mated to a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of safety, the Thar Roxx comes as standard with 6 airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, 3-point seat belts for all passengers and electronic power steering.

Thar Roxx MX1

The MX1 is the base variant of the model which comes with both a 2-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine and is mated to a 6-speed manual transmission only. The introductory price of the model is Rs 15.20 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the petrol variant and Rs 16.48 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the diesel variant. This variant is only available with RWD configurations. The equipment list of the base model includes:

• Movable armrest in the front center
• Start/Stop button

Thar Roxx MX3

The MX3 model is available with both a turbo petrol and diesel engine. The petrol engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission while the diesel engine comes with both a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed automatic transmission. The petrol-manual transmission variant is priced at Rs 17.53 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) while the diesel manual and automatic transmission variants are priced at Rs 19.02 lakh and Rs 20.81 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) respectively. In addition to the features of the MX1, the MX3 offers:

• Rear armrest with cup holder

• Zip and Zoom drive modes
• Terrain mode: snow, sand and mud
• Cruise control

Thar Roxx MX5

The MX5 variant is the mid-range variant that is powered by both a 2.0-litre turbo petrol and a 2.2-litre diesel engine and offers both manual and automatic transmission for both variants. The mid-range model is priced at Rs 19.29 lakh and Rs 21.04 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the petrol variant with manual and automatic transmission respectively, while the diesel variants with manual and automatic transmission are priced at Rs 20.21 lakh and Rs 22 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). This variant also comes with a diesel manual transmission 4WD configuration, however, the pricing of the same has not been announced by the manufacturer yet. It includes the following additional features over the MX3 variant:

• 18-inch two-tone alloy wheels
• Automatic LED headlights
• LED daytime running lights
• LED fog lights
• Synthetic leather seats

Thar Roxx AX3L

The AX3L variant of the new Mahindra Thar Roxx is powered by a 2.2-litre diesel engine mated to a manual transmission only. This variant of the new model is priced at Rs 20.21 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). It includes the following list of features:

• 10.25 inch fully digital driver display
• Auto AC
• Wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay
• Connected vehicle technology
• Level 2 ADAS

Thar Roxx AX5L

The Thar Roxx AX5L variant comes with a 2.2-litre diesel engine that is paired with an automatic transmission only. The AX5L variant is priced at Rs 22.60 lakh (on-road, Mumbai). The variant also comes with a 4WD diesel automatic configuration, the prices of which the automaker will announce soon. In addition to the features of the AX3L variant, it includes:

• CrawlSmart (4WD variants)
• Intelliturn (4WD variants)

Thar Roxx AX7L

The top variant of the Mahindra Thar Roxx AX7L offers a petrol engine with automatic transmission and a diesel engine with manual and automatic transmission option. The top variant is priced at Rs 23.38 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the petrol with automatic and Rs 22.60 lakh and Rs 24.58 lakh (on-road, Mumbai) for the diesel variant with manual and automatic transmission. It is also available with 4WD with manual and automatic configuration, the prices for the 4WD variant have not been announced by the manufacturer yet. It has the following additional features over the AX5L variant:

• 19-inch two-tone alloy wheels
• Artificial leather covering on door panels and dashboard
• Panoramic sunroof
• 6-way electrically adjustable driver's seat
• Ventilated front seats
• Cooled glove compartment
