Fatal accident on Highway 291 claims life of Blue Springs woman

A fatal crash on Missouri Route 291 at Cement City Road left a 43-year-old woman from Blue Springs, Missouri, dead and two others seriously injured. The crash occurred on Thursday, August 15, 2024, at approximately 12:26 p.m., according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

The incident involved a 2017 Nissan Sentra driven by 42-year-old Amie S. Parrett of Kearney, Missouri, and a 2005 Mercedes CLK55 AMG driven by 47-year-old Todd J. Frisbie of Grain Valley, Missouri.

According to the Highway Patrol, the crash occurred when the Mercedes driven by Frisbie turned left onto Cement City Road and failed to yield the right of way to the northbound Nissan Sentra. The Nissan struck the passenger side of the Mercedes, causing both vehicles to veer off the right side of the road. Both vehicles were totaled and were towed from the scene by Elite Tow.

Heather D. Cearley, 43, of Blue Springs, Missouri, was a passenger in the Mercedes and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS at 12:29 p.m. Parrett, the driver of the Nissan, sustained serious injuries and was transported to Liberty Hospital by AMR ambulance. Frisbie, the driver of the Mercedes, also sustained serious injuries and was transported to Centerpoint Hospital by AMR ambulance.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol was assisted on scene by the Sugar Creek Police Department, AMR Ambulance and other police forces.
