Four injured in accident involving teenagers at Winona intersection

Winona, MN (KROC-AM News) – Four people were taken to hospital on Thursday after an accident at an intersection in Winona.

Two vehicles were involved. The collision occurred shortly before 6.40 p.m.

A southbound car and a northbound SUV collided on Highway 61 as they passed the intersection with Gilmore Avenue, the State Patrol said.

Thomas Gerard Falter, 55, of Westby, Wisconsin, was driving the SUV. He and three of his four passengers, identified as 15-year-old Cecilia Marie Falter of Westby, 22-year-old Agnes Katherina Falter of Westby and 57-year-old Diane Marie Falter of Westby, all suffered injuries described as non-life-threatening.

They were taken to a hospital in Winona for further treatment. 18-year-old John Joseph Falter was also in the SUV. The young man from Westby was uninjured.

According to authorities, the driver of the car was a 16-year-old girl. Her name was not released.

Sarah Ann Macdonald, 43, of Rochester, was with her. McDonald and the girl were not injured.

All seven passengers were wearing seat belts and alcohol was not a factor in the accident, according to the state accident report. The road was wet at the time of the accident.

Winona Police, Winona County Sheriff's Office, Winona Fire Department, and Winona and Lewiston EMS also responded.
