3-year-old child killed in tragic accident Thursday – First update from the state

Delaware State Police are investigating a fatal crash involving a three-year-old bicyclist in Seaford.

According to officials, on August 15, 2024, at approximately 7:45 p.m., a Toyota Tacoma was traveling westbound on a gravel road between North Parkway Road and South Parkway Road in the community of Mobile Gardens. At the same time, a 3-year-old child was riding a bicycle in the middle of North Parkway Road.

According to their investigation, police said the Tacoma turned south onto North Parkway Road and struck the child with the front of the Tacoma.

The 3-year-old child from Seaford was taken by family members to a nearby hospital, where he died. His name is being withheld until family is notified. The driver of the Tacoma, a 56-year-old woman from Seaford, was not injured.

North Parkway Road was closed for approximately four hours while the accident scene was investigated and cleared.
