Ring camera captures crimes instead of deliveries in Broward Co.

The man looked like he was acting the part, but in reality the Ring camera wasn't recording a delivery, but a crime in action.

The Broward Sheriff's Office (BSO) said Tuesday that the Burglary Apprehension Team (BAT) was notified of the theft of packages. As officers investigated the suspect's car – a blue 2021 Honda Accord – they saw 26-year-old Stanly Sabino Pimentel turn into a Deerfield Beach condominium, park in front of a home and get out disguised as an Amazon delivery driver, the BSO statement said.

The sheriff's office provided photos of the theft, which occurred moments later.

BSO said that was when the BAT caught up with Pimentel and took him into custody. The sheriff's office said the package – an iPhone 15 Pro – was found in his car.

Pimentel was arrested on several charges, including residential burglary, grand theft, possession of a weapon during the commission of a second-degree felony and obstruction of gun control, the release said. Investigators continue to investigate Pimentel in connection with other similar crimes in Broward County, such as a recent residential burglary in Parkland.

Investigators have suggested various measures to avoid becoming a victim of package thieves. BSO recommends having packages delivered to your office, arranging delivery at a time when you are at home, using a secure drop-off point provided by the delivery company, or asking a neighbor to pick up the packages when you are not at home.
