A UFC women’s bantamweight title fight is scheduled for Salt Lake City.

champion [autotag]Raquel Pennington[/autotag] meets the former defending champion [autotag]Julianna Peña[/autotag] at UFC 307, a pay-per-view event on October 5 at the Delta Center, the company announced on Friday.

Pennington will attempt to successfully defend the title for the first time since she won it via unanimous decision against Mayra Bueno Silva at UFC 297 in January. The title was vacant at the time following the retirement of Amanda Nunes.

The 35-year-old champion is riding a five-fight winning streak and will share the card with her wife Tecia Pennington (née Torres), who previously fought Carla Esparza in the event.

Peña sat atop the division from December 2021 to July 2022. She defeated Nunes by submission in an all-time upset, but then lost a rematch to “The Lioness” seven months later by unanimous decision.

The two fighters know each other quite well, as they both competed for a time on “The Ultimate Fighter 18,” which Peña won.

With this addition, the UFC 307 program includes:

  • Champ Alex Pereira vs. Khalil Rountree Jr. – for the light heavyweight title

  • Champ Raquel Pennington vs. Julianna Peña – for the women’s bantamweight title

  • Movsar Evloev vs Aljamain Sterling
