Thursday’s victims Semi-trailer truck overturns and crashes on I-70 were identified by a family member and the Jefferson County Coroner's Office. The crash, which took place on I-70 eastbound at Ward Road, killed three people and injured several others.

The accident involved five people in one vehicle. Three of them died, while the other two were taken to hospital. The dead were identified as newlyweds Ruben Rodriguez Garcia (32) and Juliana Rodriguez Plata (39), as well as the bride's mother, Luz Melba Martinez (60).

The newlyweds' one-year-old son, Daniel, was injured in the accident. The bride's father, Carlos, also survived the accident. Both are currently recovering after being released from the hospital.

The couple had married the previous weekend, August 10, and were on their way to the mountains for their honeymoon with their son and the bride's parents.

Daniel had celebrated his first birthday just a few days ago.

The accident caused I-70 to be closed to traffic in both directions for several hours on Thursday.

The accident occurred on Thursday at 8:20 a.m. The semi-trailer and at least three other vehicles were involved. The semi-trailer driver was also injured in the accident.

About a half hour after the crash, the CBS News Colorado helicopter flew over the scene. A semi-truck was on its side and dozens of what appeared to be blue pipes were lying in the lanes of I-70. Some of the pipes appeared to be lying in the oncoming lane.

Wheat Ridge Police are investigating the fatal accident and the events that led to it.
