Cultural venue closed due to police operations in Aberdeen

Aberdeen arts venue Lemon Tree has been closed after police responded to a “disturbance” in the city centre.

Police Scotland said specialist officers were dispatched to the incident in the Shoe Lane and Queen Street area at around 4.55pm.

About a dozen police cars were on site and the venue remained guarded by officers on Friday evening. No injuries were reported.

The Lemon Tree said Friday night's performance had been cancelled due to “unforeseen circumstances” but did not provide further details about the incident.

A Police Scotland spokesman said: “Police presence in the area will continue, including specialist forces. There is not expected to be any danger to the general public.”

“There have been no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.”

The hip-hop event “Between the Lines” was supposed to take place at this venue. The Lemon Tree said that ticket holders would be contacted.
