Updated renderings of Westfield Old Orchard Mall apartment complex released – NBC Chicago

Westfield Old Orchard Mall in Skokie on Friday released updated renderings of the mall's redevelopment plans, which were given the green light by the township's planning committee a day earlier.

Submitted applications for the “transformative” redevelopment plan, which includes 400 luxury apartments and 15,000 square feet of ground-floor retail space, were unanimously approved by the Planning Board Thursday night. The proposal will go before the village's Appearance Commission at its Aug. 28 hearing.

In February, Westfield Old Orchard announced that local developer Focus had been selected as co-developer for the project, which is expected to begin construction in 2025.

“When completed, the new residential units, restaurants, wellness amenities and outdoor spaces will create a North Shore destination unparalleled in the Chicago area and significantly expand the center's existing offerings,” said an earlier press release. The apartments are expected to be ready for occupancy in early 2027.

According to officials, there will be apartments ranging from studios to three-bedrooms, with amenities including a pool, lounge, fitness center, pet spa, co-working areas and a dog run. The space will also include a park and an area for events.

The mall's transformation began in 2018 when Unibail-Rodamco-Westfield acquired the mall's former vacant Lord & Taylor department store, which will soon be home to Arhaus, Puttshack, ZARA and Pottery Barn, among others, the previous press release said.
