Driver dies after car crash in Napa

Updated on Friday at 15:44 A driver died as a result of a car crash on Redwood Road Friday morning, Napa police said.

The crash occurred just before 7:28 a.m. in the 3000 block of Redwood, police said in a news release. The driver and sole passenger was treated by Napa Fire and American Medical Response personnel but died after being taken to a hospital.

The cause of the accident is still being investigated. The police were unable to identify the driver and are waiting for the relatives to be informed.

The Napa Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is leading the investigation with assistance from the American Canyon Police Department and the Napa County Sheriff's Office.

Police are seeking information about what may have happened before and after the crash, including any footage from dashboard and home security cameras.

Redwood Road was closed from Browns Valley Road to Oakville Grade for about five hours after the accident and was not reopened until 12:40 p.m.
