A man was arrested in Mexico on murder charges in Hamilton County Jail

A man wanted in connection with a 2011 murder was arrested in Mexico and booked into the Hamilton County Jail Friday evening on a warrant for first-degree murder, according to a news release from the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office.

Jose Angel Hernandez was taken into custody by Mexican authorities in Matamoros, Mexico, handed over to the U.S. Marshal's Service in Mexico City and then taken to the Hamilton County Jail, the press release said.

The charges against Hernandez are related to the murder of Jeimy Baquero, who was found dead in a residence in the 4100 block of Shady Oaks Drive in August 2011, the press release said.

Hernandez's arrest was the result of a collaboration between the Sheriff's Office, the Hamilton County District Attorney's Office, the U.S. Attorney's Office, the U.S. Marshal's Service and Mexican authorities, the press release said.
