3 family members die in traffic accident on way to teenager's college move-in day

LAMPASAS, Texas (KWTX/Gray News) – The Texas Department of Public Safety confirmed the identities of the five people killed in a car crash on August 14.

Police responded to the fiery crash around 5:45 a.m. Wednesday morning, about six miles north of Lampasas on U.S. Route 281.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a 2004 Cadillac CTS driven by 31-year-old Jacinto Gudino Duran of Copperas Cove was traveling south on U.S. Route 281, while a 2024 Kia Telluride driven by 45-year-old Mani Arvind of Leander was traveling north.

Evidence at the scene showed the Cadillac's right rear tire had blown out, crash investigators said. Witnesses said the vehicle passed them at a high rate of speed before the collision.

The Texas Department of Public Safety said the driver of his Cadillac lost control due to the tire blowout and ended up in the northbound lane, where the Kia cut into his lane.

The Kia struck the passenger side of a Cadillac, causing significant damage to both vehicles, officials say.

Yosilu Gasman Martinez-Lopez, 23, of Copperas Cove, was identified as the passenger in the Cadillac. There were two passengers in the Kia at the time, publicly identified by public safety officials as 40-year-old Pradeepa Arvind and 17-year-old Andril Arvind.

All five people in both vehicles were pronounced dead at the scene of the accident.

A GoFundMe campaign has been launched for 14-year-old Adiryan Arvind, who is now without his family following the fatal accident.
