Chael Sonnen accuses Conor McGregor of faking an injury to avoid a clash with Michael Chandler

Conor McGregor has been accused of faking a toe injury to avoid his highly anticipated return to the Octagon against Michael Chandler.

The fight was scheduled to be the main event at UFC 303 in June and would mark McGregor's first appearance in the cage in several years.

The 36-year-old fighter reportedly broke his left little toe during one of his last sparring sessions, which led to the fight being postponed.

McGregor attempted to dispel any doubts about the legitimacy of his injury by providing photos and x-rays and addressing the speculation surrounding his first-ever withdrawal from a UFC event.

However, former UFC middleweight and light heavyweight title challenger Chael Sonnen remains unconvinced.

On his YouTube channel, Sonnen expressed his skepticism, stating: “I don't believe Conor McGregor pulled out because of a toe injury. But I also don't believe Conor McGregor had a toe injury.”

“I have to tell you, that's Chael's opinion. I never believed that story. And I never suspected anything. I never suspected anything until Conor McGregor took a photo of a toe and posted it on social media.”

“It was only at that moment that I thought, 'Oh, we're trying to cover this up.'”

“If you posted your face on the picture, you would prove it was your foot. That was my thought. That's not expert evidence.”

“I'm just telling you about a guy who had an open fracture and was going to be taken to the hospital and had surgery. But he was so professional that he called Joe Rogan over to talk to him and he did an interview because that was his job.”

“I find it hard to believe that he resigned from his job a month early because his little toe was discolored, maybe broken, maybe it was his, maybe it wasn't. And I had a bigger problem with it because how could this happen?”

“If Conor hurt his toe, how? And who was there? And what were you doing when you stubbed your toe? Did you twist it?” [Did] you hit something? Did you kick and a guy blocked it? Who was that guy? Who was that guy?”

“Because for a guy with a bad leg who just came back from an open fracture, the mere thought that he would throw that kick without the proper padding is really hard for me to believe. So I'm just asking one question.”
