Incident of road rage in Dorchester leads to seizure of firearm and arrest


DORCHESTER, Massachusetts. — A road rage incident in Dorchester Thursday evening resulted in the arrest of a 24-year-old man and the seizure of a loaded firearm. Davente Monteiro, of Dorchester, was arrested by officers from Boston Police District B-2 (Roxbury) following a heated altercation near Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

On August 15, 2024 at approximately 5:30 p.m., officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon at 488 Blue Hill Avenue. Upon arrival, officers observed the victim visibly upset and pointing to a nearby occupied vehicle.

The victim told officers that a verbal argument occurred while he was driving near the intersection of Blue Hill Avenue and Columbia Road.

The argument escalated when both vehicles stopped at a red light. According to the victim, Monteiro, a passenger in the other vehicle, got out, took pictures of the victim's vehicle, and then opened the passenger door of the victim's car, making threats that led the victim to believe Monteiro was armed.

Officers conducted an investigation, searching the vehicle and discovered a Glock 30 .45 caliber rifle in a backpack on the back seat. The weapon was loaded with one round in the barrel and 17 rounds in a high capacity magazine. The weapon was also equipped with a magazine extension and a rail attachment.

Monteiro was arrested along with the other two occupants of the vehicle. Following the investigation, Monteiro was arrested and is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on several charges including carrying a firearm without a permit, carrying a loaded firearm without a permit, possession of a large capacity firearm, illegal possession of ammunition, assault with a dangerous weapon and threatening to commit a crime.

Boston Police B-2 Detectives arrived at the scene to examine the firearm and continue the investigation.

    BALTIMORE, Maryland. — A Baltimore resident is celebrating a life-changing win after winning a $50,000 instant grand prize playing THE BIG SPIN scratch-off ticket game. The lucky winner, who prefers to remain anonymous, purchased the winning ticket at Selma's Liquors, 4600 Washington Boulevard in Baltimore County.

    The man made his big win after stopping by the liquor store after a day at work.
