Police investigate two tragic deaths in Morriston

Patient dies after jumping from roof of Morriston Hospital

A PATIENT has tragically died after jumping from the roof of Morriston Hospital, one of Wales’ largest medical facilities.

South Wales Police were alerted to the situation at 11.44pm following reports that a patient had made his way onto the roof of the hospital. A specialist negotiator was immediately deployed and began speaking to the man, a 58-year-old man from Port Talbot.

Despite the negotiator's efforts, the situation took a devastating turn. At around 3:20 am, the man jumped from the roof and suffered fatal injuries. In a statement, South Wales Police confirmed the incident, adding that investigations were ongoing to clarify the exact circumstances of the tragedy.

As is standard practice in such cases, police have contacted the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC) to launch an independent investigation. Swansea Bay University Health Services has been asked for comment on the incident.
