Pedestrian seriously injured in Friday evening accident – ​​First update from the state

Delaware State Police are investigating a car crash that occurred Friday evening.

Lt. Abigail Haas said the accident, which occurred on Newtown Road near Bear Christiana Road, involved a pedestrian. Emergency personnel, including New Castle County paramedics and Christiana Fire Company units, were dispatched to the scene at approximately 8:56 a.m.

Upon arrival, emergency services found a male patient, approximately 31 years old, who had been struck by a vehicle and thrown onto the road. The patient suffered severe head injuries and possibly internal injuries as a result of the collision.

Paramedics on scene rendered immediate medical aid to the patient before he was transported to Christiana Hospital in Stanton. His condition was reported as serious at the time of transport.
