Teenager allegedly crossed the Peace Bridge in a stolen car under a false name

BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) — A teenager is facing multiple felony charges after attempting to enter the country under a false name and in a stolen car, according to U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

The incident occurred on Thursday at the Peace Bridge in Buffalo.

According to CBP, the 19-year-old drove to the border crossing in a 2012 Toyota Scion registered in New York State. He allegedly gave officers a false name. A scan of the license plate then revealed that the car had been reported stolen.

According to CBP, the man was then taken to a second checkpoint for further processing, where it was confirmed that he was a U.S. citizen and that the car had been reported stolen in Buffalo.

The agency turned the man and the car over to the Buffalo Police Department.

He now faces several charges, including criminal possession of stolen goods, criminal damage and identity fraud.

CBP did not provide the man's name in its report.
