UFC 305 – Dricus du Plessis vs. Israel Adesanya: Fight Card, Odds, Start Time, Date, Location, Complete Guide

This weekend, the UFC returns with a main event steeped in genuine rivalry and general dislike. Middleweight champion Dricus du Plessis heads into enemy territory to face Israel Adesanya in Perth, Australia, as the duo headline UFC 305.

The two have debated whether it even makes sense to be a “real African” given that du Plessis was born in South Africa and still lives and trains in the country. Adesanya, on the other hand, was born in Nigeria before his parents moved to New Zealand when he was 10 years old. This led to a heated exchange in the Octagon following du Plessis' victory over Robert Whittaker last July. The two were scheduled to face each other a few months later, but du Plessis failed to turn things around as quickly as he could have, so Adesanya faced Sean Strickland instead and surprisingly lost his title.

“He was very excited after that faceup,” du Plessis said CBS Sports“The reason he reacted the way he did and acted like an absolute clown when we faced each other in the Octagon after the Whittaker fight was because he watched me fight Whittaker and beat him better than him.

“It was 100% a fight-or-flight response from him.”

Elsewhere on the card, more fighters from the Oceania region will get their chance to showcase themselves. Australia's Steve Erceg will look to get back to winning ways in an interesting flyweight bout against New Zealand's Kai Kara-France. Crowd favourite Dan Hooker will look to slow Mateusz Gamrot down on his way to a title shot. And fun-loving heavyweight Tai Tuivasa will hope to end his losing streak against Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
