A Boeing 777 aircraft operated by Swiss International Air Lines en route from Tokyo to Zurich had to make an emergency landing in Kazakhstan on Saturday due to a medical incident on board, which continued to cause problems after the aircraft landed, the airline said in a statement.

The nose wheel of the Boeing 777-300ER became stuck in the grass and had to be towed back to the runway, the statement said. The aircraft is being examined for damage and is under investigation.

Swiss confirmed that none of the 319 passengers on board were injured in the incident.

Boeing did not immediately respond to a request for comment outside regular business hours.
