A team of psychologists and behavioural analysts from the Central Forensic Science Laboratory in Delhi has arrived in Calcutta to conduct the necessary tests, it said.

The Central Bureau of Investigation has already taken Roy into custody.

The federal agency on Saturday questioned Dr. Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where the incident took place, for the second consecutive day in connection with the alleged rape and killing of the aspiring doctor.

The agency had taken Ghosh in for questioning on Friday, which lasted until 1:40 a.m. on Saturday.

The body of the 31-year-old junior doctor, who was allegedly raped and killed in a seminar room of the government hospital, was found on August 9. Roy, a volunteer, was arrested in this connection.

The victim's parents had approached the Calcutta High Court demanding a court-supervised probe into the case. Besides, several public interest litigations were filed demanding a CBI probe into the incident.

A preliminary autopsy report indicated that the victim was sexually assaulted and killed. It said she was bleeding from her eyes, mouth and genitals. She also had injuries to her left leg, neck, right hand, ring finger and lips.

Kolkata police arrested Roy, who had joined the police force as a volunteer in 2019. Police claim the accused was married at least four times and was known as a “womanizer”.

The accused, a trained boxer, came into contact with some senior police officials over the years, following which he was transferred to the Kolkata Police Welfare Board and posted at the police outpost of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital.
