Nottingham Forest vs Bournemouth game suspended as players despair after horror incident

Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo suffered a horrific injury just eight minutes into the game against Bournemouth, visibly shaking his teammates.

The Brazilian player collided with Antoine Semenyo in the middle of the pitch and landed awkwardly on his ankle. The two had been battling for an aerial ball, Semenyo escaped unharmed, while a stretcher was quickly prepared for Danilo, whose foot gave way on landing.

A lengthy stoppage of play of around 10 minutes followed when referee Michael Oliver called for urgent medical attention and signalled Danilo to his bench. Security raised Forest flags to shield him while he was attended to by the medical team on the pitch.

Both teams gathered in their respective dugouts while Danilo was treated amid relative silence from the crowd.

The 23-year-old was sent off to applause at the City Ground and replaced by Ryan Yates before the restart of play.
