GJPD arrests man after several hours of standoff in apartment

GRAND JUNCTION, Colorado (KJCT) – Officers with the Grand Junction Police Department responded to a report of a verbal dispute.

The incident occurred early Saturday morning around 1:30 a.m. in the area of ​​North 13th Street and Glenwood Avenue

In the incident, a man and a woman were yelling at each other in the parking lot of an apartment complex. The man pulled a gun out of his vehicle to threaten the woman.

Shortly after attempting to scare the woman, he retreated to his apartment and barricaded himself inside. SWAT officers from the GJPD, Mesa County Sheriff's Office and the GJPD Crisis Negotiation Team were dispatched to the scene.

The man was uncooperative for several hours, but left the apartment around 6 a.m. and was arrested. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Oliver Anderson, 49, is accused of serious threats, domestic violence and other related crimes.
