Woman charged in connection with shooting that left two dead in Freeman, Missouri

KANSAS CITY, Missouri – A woman has been charged in connection with a double shooting that left a father and son dead in Freeman, Missouri, on Friday.

Misty Stufflebean, 43, is charged with first-degree burglary and fourth-degree assault in connection with the deaths of 47-year-old Michael Spear and 27-year-old Brian Spear.

On Friday, officers with the Cass County Sheriff's Office responded to reports of shots fired on North Washington and West Main Street around 1 p.m.

When they arrived, they found men with gunshot wounds.

One of them died at the scene of the accident and a second in a nearby hospital.

Stuffleban was questioned by authorities and later taken into custody, the sheriff's office said.

A judge ordered Stufflebean held without bail. She is currently being held in the Cass County Jail.

It is not yet known what led to the violence, but the investigation into the incident is ongoing.

A man was also questioned and later released.
