Texas C Jake Majors was unable to participate in today's practice game due to an injury

The Texas football team just finished its second practice game of fall camp on the afternoon of August 17. Among the most significant injury reports from the second and final practice game of fall camp was, at least for precautionary reasons, a reported ankle injury to senior center Jake Majors.

OTF's Bobby Burton and CJ Vogel reported on August 17 that Majors was unable to participate in the Longhorns' first-team offensive line practice game today due to his ankle injury. Majors reportedly wore a “precautionary boot” during Saturday's fall practice game.

We mentioned in an article on the website this afternoon that senior offensive lineman Hayden Conner moved from the left guard position to the center position in today's scrimmage to play on the first team offensive line. It also sounds like redshirt sophomore Connor Robertson got a couple of first-team starts today at center while the offensive line rotated inside for the scrimmage.

It is also noteworthy that junior offensive lineman Cole Hutson took over the majority of the practice game and goal line duties in Conner's usual position of left guard.

The most first-team players on the Longhorns offensive line at today's scrimmage were (from left to right) Kelvin Banks Jr., Hutson, Conner/Robertson, DJ Campbell and Cam Williams.

As for Majors' continued injury status, most indications from various practice and game reports suggest he should be ready for DKR's regular season opener in a few weeks against Colorado State.

It makes sense that head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns' staff are being cautious given the number of injury issues they've had in preseason training camp recently. Texas has already lost two running backs to season-ending lower-body injuries in the final weeks of preseason training camp, including sophomore CJ Baxter Jr. (knee) and true freshman Christian Clark (Achilles).

The good news for the Longhorns is that they suffered no injuries in today's scrimmage. Texas ran today's scrimmage with live tackles in the first half and was more of a competitive walkthrough pace in the second half.
