Man arrested for hit-and-run in downtown San Diego

A 29-year-old man named Steven Ross was arrested Saturday for the hit-and-run of a 24-year-old male pedestrian in downtown San Diego.

Ross was involved in a collision with a parked car on Fifth Avenue and fled the scene. The 24-year-old man was crossing the street at the intersection of Seventh Avenue and Cedar Street.

Ross failed to yield and collided with the pedestrian, who suffered an open fracture of his left tibia and fibula. He was taken to a local hospital where his injuries were deemed non-life threatening.

Ross left the scene of the accident and parked his vehicle on Eighth Avenue. After a short foot chase, he was arrested. Ross was arrested for hit and run and driving while intoxicated causing personal injury.

The investigation is being conducted by the SDPD's Traffic Division.
