PNE announces the name of the new open-air amphitheater

Nearly three months after it was announced that Freedom Mobile had acquired the naming rights to the new amphitheater on the PNE site, the name of the venue has been revealed.

The theater will be called Freedom Mobile Arch.

The name is a reference to the venue's arched, cantilevered wooden roof, which is part of the $900 million redesign.

The name was chosen by public vote, the other options were Freedom Mobile Amp, Freedom Mobile Rise and Freedom Mobile Place.

According to PNE, the winning name received more than twice as many votes as the other options.

In addition to the naming rights for the amphitheater, a 12-year agreement between PNE and Freedom Mobile announced in May also includes a partnership for other properties, including Summerfest and Fright Night.

Construction on the Freedom Mobile Arch is scheduled to be completed in summer 2026.

The project has been in the planning phase for several years. According to PNE, the project will showcase engineering and construction products from British Columbia and Canada while adhering to environmental sustainability standards.

The concept of the building was presented in April 2023. It will accommodate about 10,000 people.

The venue will be the setting for the PNE's Summer Nights Concerts and other performances.
