Dab Smoke Shop Burglary in Hudson, MA – NBC Boston

Three teenagers were arrested early Saturday morning after an apparent burglary at a tobacco shop in Hudson, Massachusetts.

Hudson Police said they responded to a burglar alarm at DAB Smoke Shop (234 Washington Street) around 3:30 a.m. Saturday morning and found the store's front entrance smashed in.

Officers on scene determined that a vehicle had likely backed into the front of a store, so they sent a notice to surrounding police departments asking them to be on the lookout for a vehicle with damage consistent with a vehicle backing into a store entrance.

A short time later, a Marlborough Police officer called to report that he had observed a vehicle with damage consistent with that reported.

This officer and an on-scene Massachusetts State Police patrol officer stopped the vehicle in question.

After an investigation in which police found merchandise allegedly stolen from the tobacco shop, three boys were arrested – a 15-year-old from Boston, a 16-year-old from Quincy and a 17-year-old from Danvers. The vehicle was impounded, police said.

Police Chief Richard DiPersio thanked officers and detectives from the three agencies involved for their energetic actions, thorough investigations and teamwork in quickly identifying and arresting the suspects.

“This is an example of strong policing and is intended to send the message that break-ins and thefts will not be tolerated at our local businesses,” DiPersio said in a statement. “We have excellent relationships with our neighboring agencies and that teamwork was clearly on display early Saturday morning, resulting in the arrest of three juveniles in this most brazen and outrageous crime.”

Police said two suspects were released on bail and the third was released to his guardians. They will be arraigned in Framingham Juvenile Court in the next few days. Their names have not been released because of their ages and it is unclear if they have attorneys.
