Three people arrested in connection with drug trafficking in Independence

INDEPENDENCE, Louisiana (WVUE) – Two men and a woman were arrested in Independence on August 14 in connection with a drug trafficking incident.

The arrests came after Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office drug investigators received a tip from the public that led to an investigation and subsequent raid.

Justin Cannon, 40, and Lorenzo Jones, 27, were charged with multiple misdemeanors, including possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute and possession of CDS in conjunction with a firearm. Jones faces additional charges, including a second count of possession of a Schedule I controlled dangerous substance with intent to distribute.

Rodrica Jones, 30, was charged with simple possession of marijuana, endangering a child and related offenses.

The investigation focused on a residence on Adelante Street, where detectives armed with a search warrant discovered packaged marijuana, heroin, scales and a stolen firearm.

The items were reportedly accessible to a child present in the house.
