Barcelona full-back suffers “another” injury in first official game after return

The Hansi Flick era in La Liga began with a very active Barcelona and the return of Alejandro Balde.

The Spaniard looked very fit with 3 key passes and 53 ball touches during the game. However, the youngster's joy was short-lived.

Balde was unable to enjoy his long-awaited and much-needed comeback after leaving the game against Valencia injured in the first minutes of the second half.

The extent of the injury is not yet known, examinations are planned for after the game.

However, everything indicates that the left-back is suffering from problems in the thigh area.

This was the player's first official match after his injury in the quarter-finals of the Copa del Rey against Athletic Club in the 2023/24 season on January 24.

At the time, the Spaniard suffered a dissertation of the biceps femoris tendon in his right leg and had to undergo surgery. He will therefore be out for the entire 2023/24 season.

Barcelona hope it is nothing serious. If it is, the Catalan club still have a few days before the transfer window closes to sign a new full-back – with João Cancelo being the best option.

If no full-back is signed despite a long injury break, Gerard Martin, Alex Valle and Hector Fort would be interesting options for Hansi Flick.
