The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have reportedly reached an agreement with linebacker Randy Gregory and plan to release him. Tampa Bay Times' Rick Stroud.

Gregory filed a lawsuit against the NFL and his former team, the Denver Broncos, in June alleging discrimination, failed to show up for training camp and missed two preseason games.

Gregory was fined $532,500 for taking the THC-containing disability drug dronabinol during his two years with the Broncos. In the lawsuit, he stated that he was prescribed the drug for social anxiety and post-traumatic stress disorder, but the NFL denied him permission to take the drug.

Gregory claimed in the complaint that Denver and the NFL did not allow him to use the drug outside of work hours and later denied his request for a therapeutic use exemption. Although the league no longer suspends players for using THC, it is still on the list of banned substances that carry fines.

The sixth-year veteran will now try to become a free agent before the start of the season. He spent the first part of the 2023 season with the Broncos before being traded to the San Francisco 49ers, where he helped the team reach the Super Bowl.

Gregory had a total of 20 tackles, 3.5 sacks and one pass deflection this year.
