Air India expresses concern over ‘unlawful break-in’ after attack on stewardess in London, police launch investigation

An Air India stewardess was brutally attacked by an unknown assailant in a London hotel earlier this week

New Delhi [India]August 18 (ANI): An Air India air hostess was brutally attacked by an unknown assailant in a London hotel earlier this week.

Air India confirmed the incident and said that a police report had been filed, which is now investigating the case. The airline also assured that the stewardess was receiving psychological support and stressed that it was fully supporting her during this difficult time.

“We are providing all possible support, including professional advice, to our colleague and his extended team. We are deeply shocked by an unlawful break-in at a hotel belonging to a major international chain, which affected one of our crew members. Air India is also working with the local police to pursue the matter to the fullest extent of the law and with the hotel management to ensure that such incidents do not recur. We request that the privacy of those affected be respected,” an Air India spokesperson said.

The airline further stated that it takes the incident very seriously and will seek justice for the stewardess. The airline also stressed the importance of respecting her safety, privacy and well-being during this time.

“Air India attaches utmost importance to the safety and well-being of our crew and employees. We are deeply saddened by the unlawful break-in at a hotel belonging to a major international chain, which affected one of our crew members,” the statement said.

Due to the severity of her injuries, she was later admitted to a hospital in London.

According to sources, the attack on the Air India air hostess took place after midnight when all the crew members were asleep. The intruder, whose identity remains unknown, is said to have entered one of the air hostess rooms and attacked her with a hangar. Her screams alerted the hotel staff and due to their timely intervention, the matter was brought under control.

Officials said an investigation into the matter was underway and the air hostess has since been brought back to India. (ANI)
