Missouri woman arrested for stealing Elvis' Graceland estate

A Missouri woman was arrested Aug. 16 for an alleged “brazen plan” to steal property at Graceland, the historic home of Elvis Presley, from the King of Rock and Roll's family, the Justice Department said.

Lisa Jeanine Findley, 53, is charged with federal mail fraud and identity theft and faces a maximum sentence of more than 20 years in prison.

“The defendant orchestrated a scheme to fraudulently dispose of Graceland, falsely claiming that Elvis Presley's daughter had pledged the historic landmark as collateral for a loan that she was unable to repay before her death,” Nicole Argentieri, chief of the Justice Department's Criminal Division, said in a statement.

“We allege that as part of his brazen scheme, the defendant created numerous false documents and attempted to extort compensation from the Presley family,” Argentieri said.

According to court documents, Findley claimed that Lisa Marie Presley, Elvis' only child who died in January 2023, borrowed $3.8 million from a company called Naussany Investments in 2018, pledged Graceland as collateral for the loan, and failed to repay the debt.

“Findley is alleged to have forged loan documents that contained forged signatures of Elvis Presley's daughter and a Florida state notary public,” the Justice Department said.

A foreclosure auction of Graceland was scheduled for May, but a Tennessee judge blocked the Memphis estate from going on sale at the last minute after Elvis Presley's granddaughter, actress Riley Keough, filed a lawsuit claiming the loan documents were forged.
