North Carolina July employment figures released — Neuse News

Raleigh, NC – The state's seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 3.7 percent in July 2024, up 0.1 percentage points from the revised June rate. The national rate rose 0.2 percentage points to 4.3 percent.

The unemployment rate in North Carolina increased by 0.3 percentage points compared to last year. The number of employed people decreased by 5,266 to 5,073,805 during the month and increased by 9,533 during the year. The number of unemployed people increased by 5,155 to 195,533 during the month and by 16,105 during the year.

The seasonally adjusted total non-farm employment as measured by the monthly establishment survey increased by 700 to 5,019,900 in July. The main industries with increases were financial services (1,300), leisure and hospitality (1,100), professional and business services (1,100), public administration (900) and construction (800). The main industries with decreases were education and health (2,500), trade, transportation and utilities (1,000), manufacturing (800) and other services (200). Employment in information and mining and forestry remained unchanged.
