Kidnapped Anambra Commissioner regains freedom

Anambra Youth Development Commissioner Patrick Aghamba and his wife were released.

The couple were kidnapped on Friday while on their way to the wedding of the daughter of Charles Soludo, the governor of Anambra, in Abuja, scheduled for Saturday.

Kpajie Offia, an assistant to the commissioner who was travelling with the couple, was reportedly killed in the attack.

Christian Aburime, Soludo's spokesman, told the media on Sunday that the commissioner and his wife were released on Saturday evening.

“Within 24 hours, we managed to free them from the kidnappers’ hands,” said Aburime.

Similarly, armed men abducted 20 medical and dental students from the universities of Maiduguri and Jos on Friday.

The students were on their way to the annual meeting of the Association of Catholic Medical and Dental Students in Enugu State.

The students were attacked by armed men in the Otukpo area of ​​Benue State.
