Two people injured, one person arrested in shooting on Johnson Street in South Bend – 95.3 MNC

Two people were injured and one person was arrested after a shooting in South Bend.

It was approximately 2:45 a.m. on Sunday, August 18, that South Bend police were patrolling the area of ​​Johnson and Rupel Streets when they heard gunshots. Officers then received a ShotSpotter alert for the 600 block of N. Johnson Street.

During their investigation, officers were informed that two victims had been admitted to Memorial Hospital with apparent gunshot wounds.

Following an investigation by the South Bend Police Department's Violent Crimes Unit, 22-year-old Tawain Wilkins was identified as a suspect and arrested on two preliminary charges related to the shooting. He was subsequently transported to the St. Joseph County Jail, where he awaits formal arraignment by the St. Joseph County District Attorney's Office.
