Deputies arrest two people in connection with drug investigation

PONCHATOULA, Louisiana (WAFB) – A man and a woman were arrested in connection with a drug investigation in Tangipahoa County, officials said.

According to the Tangipahoa Parish Sheriff's Office, the suspects are Jasmane Jones, 36, and Mayha Tucker, 26.

The suspects were arrested after a two-month investigation, lawmakers said.

A home on 4th Street was searched via search warrant. During the search, authorities found 6 pounds of marijuana, ecstasy, hydrocodone, two handguns, more than $4,000 in cash and several iPhones, according to TPSO. Officials said the seized items were accessible to a 4-year-old in the home.

Tucker was arrested when authorities executed the search warrant on the home, while Jones was arrested during a traffic stop, according to TPSO.

Both suspects were booked into the Tangipahoa Parish Jail. They are charged with one count of possession of marijuana, hydrocodone and ecstasy with the intent to resell, one count of possession of CDS in the presence of a minor and two counts of possession of a firearm in the presence of a controlled dangerous substance. Jones is additionally charged with two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
