Janesville man charged after fatal car crash

JANESVILLE, Wis. (WIFR) – A 32-year-old man was arrested after a car crash in Janesville left two people dead, police said.

Koty Diaz is accused of two counts of manslaughter by driving under the influence of alcohol, two counts of driving causing death after a driving license was revoked and driving under the influence of intoxicants (relapse).

On August 17 at approximately 2:15 a.m., Janesville Police and Fire Departments responded to a crash at the corner of E. Delavan Drive and Beloit Avenue.

According to police, Diaz failed to stop at a red light on Delevan St. and crashed into a car traveling north on Beloit Avenue. The Rock County Coroner's Office determined that both occupants of the northbound car were dead at the scene.

According to police, Diaz showed signs of impairment and failed the sobriety test.

A Rock County judge signed a warrant for a blood sample from Diaz. The results of the blood test are pending.
