Man arrested for attempted armed robbery of underage victim

Police Chief Antonio DeVaul of the Takoma Park Police Department announces the arrest of Jersi Eduardo Claros, 34, no fixed address, for attempted armed robbery of a minor.


According to police, “on August 13, at approx. 20:38Takoma Park Police officers were dispatched to the 7600 block of New Hampshire Avenue after an attempted armed robbery was reported. The incident involved a juvenile victim who was approached by a suspect, later identified as Claros, at a bus stop. Claros demanded money from the victim, and when the victim stated he did not have any, Claros made a gesture toward his waistband, indicating that he was armed. Claros then unsuccessfully attempted to solicit money from two other women at the bus stop.

During the course of the investigation, Claros was identified as a suspect and subsequently found in the Walgreens parking lot on University Boulevard. He was taken into custody without incident.
