Man arrested on suspicion of murder of woman found stabbed to death in Sussex car park | UK news

A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a woman was found stabbed to death in a car park on Sunday morning, Sussex Police said.

Officers were called to an argument between a man and a woman at around 7.10am on Station Way in Crawley, West Sussex. The area was searched and a woman was found in a nearby car park “with stab injuries”, police said.

She was treated by paramedics, but her death was pronounced at the scene of the accident.

Officers launched a wider search for a suspect and said they quickly located a 26-year-old man on Stephenson Road. The man, believed to be from Crawley, remains in custody.

Supervisor Rachel Swinney said: “This is a tragic incident that has resulted in the death of a young woman and we are working hard to determine exactly what happened. Officers were able to quickly arrest a suspect and we are not currently looking for anyone else.”

“There will be an increased police presence in this busy area of ​​Crawley while we carry out our investigation. I would ask anyone who has any concerns to speak to an officer at the scene.”

Police asked witnesses or “anyone with useful information” to contact police online or on 101, citing Operation Venn.
