DeAndre Hopkins injury update: Titans coach shares news about star WR

The Tennessee Titans have received good news about wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins, who was out for several weeks due to a knee injury.

On Sunday, head coach Brian Callahan announced that Hopkins would be back soon and is expected to be ready for the Week 1 game against the Chicago Bears on Sunday, September 8.

Hopkins was spotted earlier in training camp with a bandage on his knee before leaving practice early due to a knee sprain. His return date was originally rumored to be four to six weeks, so it looks like he will be sooner.

The 32-year-old wide receiver is entering his second season with the Titans after being quarterback Will Levis' first choice in 2023. DHop recorded 75 receptions for 1,057 yards and seven touchdowns in his first season in Nashville.

The Titans will have significantly more problems at the wide receiver position this season. After Hopkins was the best and only trustworthy target in the wide receiver room in 2023, the Titans signed both Calvin Ridley and Tyler Boyd as free agents.

That could affect his performance, but Ridley and Boyd will also force defenses to focus their attention elsewhere rather than just Hopkins. The Titans are also moving to a more pass-heavy offense after being run-heavy during the Mike Vrabel era.

The Titans have one more preseason game on Sunday, August 25 before making final cuts, and their regular season opener will be two weeks later.
