Trelawny farmer charged with murder

Two prisoners planned the murder of a key witness from their prison cell.

TRELAWNY, Jamaica – A 24-year-old Trelawny farmer has been charged with murder following the death of 35-year-old Conroy Bramwell, also known as “Smokey,” of Spring Hill, Stewart Castle, Duncans in the parish on Wednesday, August 14.

The accused is Onique Small, also known as “Ojay,” with an address in the Hague Settlement community.

According to Falmouth Police reports, Bramwell was walking around town around 11:15 p.m. when he got into an argument with a man to whom he had lent money.

The argument escalated into a physical altercation, during which the suspect allegedly used a pair of scissors to stab Bramwell. Police were called and upon their arrival, Bramwell was taken to the hospital where he was treated. He succumbed to his injuries on Saturday, August 17.

Small, who turned himself in to police on Thursday, August 15, was charged following a question-and-answer session that also took place on Saturday.

His court date is currently being set.
