Boy injured in UTV accident in Pokagon Township

NILES – A boy was injured in a UTV accident in Pokagon Township on Sunday.

Sheriff Richard J. Behnke reports that at approximately 2:37 p.m. Sunday, deputies from the Cass County Sheriff's Office were called to Pokagon Township for a single UTV accident on the dirt road section of Brush Lake Road. The investigation revealed that a UTV driven by a young man lost control on the rocks of the dirt road and flipped onto its roof.

The young driver suffered no injuries. His passenger, another young man, was taken to South Bend Memorial for minor injuries sustained in the accident.

Assisting us on the scene were the Indian Lake and Eau Claire fire departments, the Pokagon Tribal Police, the Michigan State Police, the Berrien County Sheriff's Department and Medic 1 ambulance.

Alcohol does not appear to have played a role in the accident; the accident remains under investigation.
