Pocso court sentences Punjab man to 20 years in prison for raping 15-year-old girl

Dehradun: The Additional District Judge of the Special Pocso dish in Haridwar on Saturday sentenced a 26-year-old man from Punjab to 20 years in prison for rape a 15-year-old girl in 2021. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 1.8 lakh on the convict.
He kidnapped the girl in July 2021 and took her to his native Kapurthala. Police rescued the girl from Punjab and arrested the convict, who worked at a grocery store in Haridwar, where the girl lived nearby.
Adesh Chauhan, deputy district attorney, said the minor's father had filed a first complaint under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the IPC against the convict as she was below 16 years of age at the time of the incident. He said the police found the convict by tracking his phone and rescued his daughter. The survivor in her statement said the culprit had raped her multiple times in Punjab, which was confirmed by the medical report. TNN
