Police files NSA case against accused of rape and murder in Uttar Pradesh

LUKWEI: National Security Law (NSA) was imposed on a 22-year-old rape and murder accused languishing in Uttar Pradesh Barabanki Prison for participation in sexual activities with the bodies of two of his Victim.
Amarendra Rawat, who is also accused of rape and attempted murder of two other women, was arrested in January 2023 while searching for another target in Hunhuna village in Ayodhya.
The killer's actions came to light on December 29, 2022, when the strangled body of a 60-year-old woman from Thatherha village in Barabanki's Ramsanehighat was discovered in a nearby forest area. The elderly woman had gone there to relieve herself and was found dead the next day.
“There were clear signs of rape followed by murder. During investigation, it was learnt that a similar incident had taken place in Ibrahimabad village on December 17. Three days earlier, another attack had taken place in Kusehti, Ayodhya's Mawai area. On December 5, 2022, there was an attempted rape of an elderly woman who was defecating in a forest patch near the neighbouring Dayarampurwa village. A witness filmed the attack, which helped us identify the suspect,” said Barabanki SP Dinesh Singh.
During his psychiatric examination, it emerged that Amarendra had developed a deep-seated hatred of women, which drove his violent acts.
